Operation Photo Rescue
It’s always great when we can find a program or a product that fills a true need that’s not readily met in the marketplace. Operation Photo Rescue definitely fits that bill.
Operation Photo Rescue is a volunteer organization made up of professional photojournalists and amateur digital photographers who work to restore photos for people whose cherished memories have been damaged by fires, floods and other natural disasters. When you submit your damaged photos to Operation Photo Rescue, they are restored to the best of the volunteers’ abilities, at no charge to you.
This is an organization that provides a valuable service all across the US. They even make treks to different cities from time to time just to make it easier for people to give them their damaged photos.
Operation Photo Rescue has a fantastic website and blog, where they keep their readers informed about their work. Even if you’re not a photo enthusiast, you’ll love reading their blog because it just makes you feel good about the work they’re doing.
Restoring old and damaged photos may not be the first thing that comes to your mind when you think about helping out after some sort of natural disaster. But, as Operation Photo Rescue’s website reminds us, “insurance doesn’t restore memories”. Thank goodness, Operation Photo Rescue does.
