Because Spring is in the Air

April 11th, 2011

Spring is in the air, and while for many people that spells love, for many other people it spells gardening. Or, better yet, gardening frustration. If you’ve longed to have beautiful flowers gracing your yard or to grow your own vegetables, this year might just be your season.

Though it’s not a new site, Dave’s Garden bears recommending at this time of year. It’s a great site for both novice gardeners and experienced ones. You’ll find the answer to nearly every question you can think of about gardening.

There are many lively discussion boards where gardeners ask questions and discuss techniques and results. There are also some great articles. The site supports the idea of organic gardening and gives gardeners lots of tips for how to grow flowers and vegetables without the use of pesticides. You can even buy or trade seeds with other gardeners. Dave’s Garden also publishes a directory of websites where you can buy seeds, plants and other supplies you’ll need for your garden.

This might just be your year to have the flower and vegetable garden you’ve always wanted. So, take a minute to look at Dave’s Garden, and then get growing yourself!

Because We All Need a Little Love (and Food) in Our Lives

April 11th, 2011

I must confess that I’m a little addicted to food blogs. Some might consider it a problem, but I figure that reading about all that food is better than eating all of it. But, I’m always on the lookout for food blogs that do such a good job that they make me want to get right up from the laptop and head directly to the kitchen.

Food is My Love Language is one of those blogs. The author features food from all cultures and countries and makes every bit of it look and sound delicious. What’s more, she makes cooking things that would once have been intimidating to me seem very approachable. The photography is beautiful and the recipes are easy to follow. They’re also quite inspired.

I’ve begun to use Food is My Love Language as inspiration for more creative meals in my home. There’s not much chance that any of my tried and true go to meals are going to turn up on Lois’ blog. And, that, of course is the beauty of it. This is a great site you can go to in order to find realistic recipes for truly inspired meals from around the globe.
